Outfit// Tribal Prints and Corduroy

What Am I Wearing
Tribal Halter Top- Urban Outfitters
Corduroy Circle Skirt- American Apparel
Sandals-Urban Outfitters

Today my family and I found our way downtown to the Taste of Chicago. It was mighty packed and the air smelled of delightful goods. Yum! I actually didn't eat anything when I was doing there seeing as thought I ate before. Why? I'm not for sure.

To today's outfit. Alright this top, oh this top. When I first saw this top I was in love I can't express to you the last time I wore a halter top! My friend (doubtful as they are) believed that the top was going to be too small for me. After many try ons and even one from my smaller friend I proved to them that it obviously fit. I mean let's be serious I did try it on in the store. Also my handy dandy Corduroy Circle Skirt has gotten me in a many outfits and even works when I need to wear khakis. It's a little on the short side but it works well all in on. It also looks very good with over the knee socks. Hope everyone is having a good week!

Tips From This Post

-Tribal prints are great for summer! They are risque and the prints have great color and pattern.

-Halter tops are not just for the quaint young children. It can also be worn at a matured age. The right way of course. Nothing too tight and remember to wear the right bra!

-Circle Skirts are also a staple piece for summer and well any season at that. They are flirty, fun and make for a good addition to any outfit. I like them paired with brogues, or an over sized sweater with a button down underneath, or even tights and a pair of heels. The possibilities are endless. Here are a few of my favorites:

-Always try on clothes you have doubts about. It makes a world of a difference when it comes to actually putting something on to wear.

Outfit// Red, White and Blue: Happy 4th of July!

What Am I Wearing?
American Flag Tank Top-Urban Outfitters Boy’s Section
Denim Shorts-Target
Cowboy Boots-Belk

What is independence?

Independence is the first time you ride your bike without the training wheels or the time at your quincenera where you trade your flats for a pair of heels. But nothing compares to the independence you gain when your heels are facing the people you spent the last 18 years of life with of whom showed you the path to adulthood and hope that one day you will lead a life just as good as the one they gave to you. As you wave goodbye to the dependence you once were so familiar with you remember that your independence is right up the stairs, around the corner and next to the rest of your life.

I haven’t made it to the stage of life where all my dependencies have ran its course and I am walking the straight and narrow path of independence but it has come across my mind that in 2 years I’m not going to be handed my life on a silver platter anymore; I’m going to have to cook it up myself.

To me independence is freedom. Not freedom in that you’re free of the barriers that were constricting you, but free to make decisions on your own. To tell you the truth I’m scared of independence. I’m scared that I’ll screw up and spend my rent money on a pair of shoes or scared I’m not going to get the job I quite desire.

Although I can’t say I am fully ready to grasp the idea of being fully independent I do think I’ll be ready to take on the world waving my own personal freedom flag and taking the world on one independent step at a time.

Happy Fourth of July!

Tips From This Post

-Don’t Be afraid to rock short shorts and cowboy boots. Let that inner country girl loose!

-Wear your red, white and blue with pride!

Outfit//Overall I Love Summer

What Am I Wearing?
Overalls-From a Friend
Cheetah Print Collared Shirt-Urban Outfitters
Cheetah Print Shoes-Kohls
Maroon and Navy Satchel-Cambridge Satchel Company

I love summer. The nice warm sun beating down on you as you soak up some rays at the beach or catch them through the window on your couch. It's also a great time to check out what everyone is wearing since it's finally that time of year when you can be cheeky and show some skin.

I happened to pick these overalls up at my friends house actually. We had this "Overall Success" Day in the 8th grade so she just had them sitting around in her closet. I knew she wasn't going to get a wear out of them so I happily took them off her hands. These are probably one of my best finds. Overalls are pieces that can be dressed up, dressed down or just a great piece to chill in; or farm if your into that stuff. Today I decided to dress over my 'alls by pairing them with this cheetah print collared shirt I picked up off the sales rack at Urban Outfitters. I also added in my matching Cheetah print shoes I got from Kohls last year (which I found out everyone else in my school also had) and my awesome companion my maroon and navy Cambridge Satchel my dad gave me last Christmas. I felt the satchel gave it a city slicker meets university student look if you get my drift. Well that's all for today, I'd love to see your overall outfits!

Tips From Today's Post

-Overalls are a summer must. They are versatille and can be dressed up or down.

-Try matching like prints for a cohesive look.

-Satchels are great and give off a very chic univeristy look.
Here are some cute alternatives to the Cambrige Satchel:

-It's summer, don't be afraid to show a little skin!
